First Presbyterian Church, Jonesboro Arkansas: Who allow us a place to practice twice a week, even allow us to take over a portion of a closet to store our bigger and bulker stuff, thus making practice and lessons focus on the music, and not lugging gear around.
The Memphis Scottish Society: Who have for the 2nd year, awarded the band a substantial scholarship towards the costs of sending multiple students to the 39th annual “North American Academy of Piping and Drumming”, in Valle Crucis, NC.
The “Celtic Society of West TN”: What can I say, this organization is an inspiration in Git-R-Done!
Small in number, huge in heart, they began a Celtic Festival about 4.5 years ago and while not huge, it is one of the few Celtic themed events in the area that is actually… growing.
The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games: Who, apparently at the urging of a friend who likes seeing youth coming into piping and drumming, awarded the band a $500 scholarship, also towards the costs of taking our youth (and a couple of very lucky chaparones) to this year’s school.
Additional support has been provided by:
· Mrs. Patty Minga – Forever eager and willing to help the band in many ways, cooking and organizing the workers for our Burns Night and “Bagpipes and BBQ” dinners, as well as tirelessly promoting the band wherever she goes.
· Mr Stephen Midkiff (Dushore, PA). Retired military and piper in his own right, he has given us the pleasure of his company on a couple of occasions when in town to visit family, to participate in practices. Hearing of our efforts, he also sent us a welcome financial assist.
· Senath State Bank of Kennett: For a generous donation to our Burns Night Dinner, held in Jan. 2010.
· And of course.. all the family members of all those in the band, as well as the students. Especially with a band that is made up of more youth than adults, the support of the families is immense.
Thank you one and all.
